The text of a letter from Mott Macdonald on behalf of Highways England follows:
Hope you’re well.
I am writing to provide you with an update on the A358 Taunton to Southfields scheme.
As you will be aware, earlier this year Highways England held a non-statutory public consultation to gather views on its proposals. The response we received to this consultation resulted in Highways England taking the decision to plan a supplementary consultation, focusing on options for improving the road between the M5 and West Hatch.
Following further review, we are now taking the decision to consult again on the whole route from early 2018. We’ve decided to widen the scope to provide the public and stakeholders with the opportunity to have a fuller say and we will be presenting a number of options for consideration. Further detail regarding scheme options will be presented when the consultation is launched.
The decision to widen the scope of the consultation to the whole route means that we need more time to work on the consultation and finalise the necessary materials to support this process. We also want to avoid consulting during December and over the Christmas / New Year period.
Consultation dates and details are currently being finalised and will be announced in due course.
Further information on the scheme can be found on the scheme website:http://roads.highways.gov.uk/projects/a358-taunton-to-southfields/
If you have any queries about the scheme please let me know.
